Welcome to the Staten Island Community Band Webpage where band members, family, and friends can discover our history, view photos and videos of performances, and get details on what we are up to and when we are next performing live!
The Staten Island Community Band was established in 1939 as a voluntary, non-profit musical group. It is believed to be the longest-running community band in New York City and New York State, and quite possibly in the United States, functioning for over 80 years and counting! Its main purpose is to serve the musical needs of the Staten Island community.
Through the years, the Band has performed concerts in many different parts of the metropolitan area, as well as having traveled and performed outside of New York City, representing Staten Island and establishing a fine reputation of musical excellence wherever it has been featured.
Our motto, written above, represents who we are, and the Band endeavors to serve the Staten Island community in many ways. Beyond the Holiday and Spring Concerts, the Band has performed in nursing homes, graduation ceremonies, dedications, parades, and other civic engagements. The Band also serves the functions of cultural enrichment in the community, in particular, supporting the youth of our community by providing a wholesome and worthwhile environment in which their musical talents may be developed. Many of our members are current students attending the high schools and colleges in the Staten Island community.
The Staten Island Community Band includes and represents the many diverse groups from our community, talented instrumentalists coming together to create beautiful music and melody, learning and playing together in harmony as one cohesive group of people who love music.
